GOODWILL ON THE MOVE - OCEANSIDE STORE HAS MOVED TO NEW TRI CITY LOCATION!

Goodwill has moved to a new location in Oceanside as of March 14,2008. The new store is in the Tri City Crossings shopping Center at 3841 Plaza Drive, Suite 902, Oceanside 92056. Store Hours: Monday through Saturday from 9:00am to 7:00pm and Sunday from 10:00am to 5:00pm. The center is located just south of Rte 78 at College Avenue. Turn east into Plaza Drive, and make a right at the next signal which leads you into the center.

Joining anchor tenants Rite Aid and TJMaxx, the new store is freshly remodeled and will be ready to accept donations at the roller door off the perimeter road to the east, and to greet old and new shoppers on the same day.

HOW TO DONATE:

Consider whether one of your family or friends would find your donation useful if you passed it on when you are through with it. That is a good rule of thumb when donating to any not-for-profit organization that accepts donations of clothing and tangible items from the public. Please note that we have not "fixed" donations for many years, and cannot use items that are broken, stained, missing pieces or damaged.

Goodwill gladly accepts clean, gently used clothing and small working household items at any of our retail operations and donation centers. If you plan to bring a large quantity of donations or furniture items, please contact the nearest retail Goodwill store to make sure that they have room to accept it. Our free-standing donation centers have limited space and are not set up to accept large bulky items, so the employees at the site may refer you to the closest retail store if they anticipate that their center will be full by the end of the day.

It's easy and convenient to drop off your donation at any of our THIRTEEN free-standing donation centers or our twelve retail stores, conveniently located throughout San Diego County.

When are you open?
Our retail stores accept donations and are open 7 days a week, 362 days a year, during posted hours. We are normally closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, & Easter.

Our donation centers are normally open 7 days a week from 8:30 to 5:00pm, but on some holidays, we may close some of our more remote locations when traffic is slow. Please call our customer service line at 888-446-6394 if you have any question about when we are open.

Home Pick Up?
IMPORTANT NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE RETAIL STORES TO REQUEST A PICK UP. CONTACT OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE at 888-446-6394 MONDAY-SATURDAY 8-4:30PM.

We encourage donors, if at all possible, to bring us their donations.

With the cost of gas, labor, insurance, maintenance, and the resale value of goods we receive as donations, many times it is not economically feasible for us to offer free home pick up of a few items. We depend on the income from the sale of donations to provide the revenue we need to operate our paid training programs and our free community programs.

Pick up services are normally only scheduled for donations that include furniture items (excluding mattresses and heavy items) and that are located near to our scheduled routes. Lead time can range up to 6 weeks depending on when you call and are based on your zip code. If you have a large donation, health issues or some other compelling reason why you require a pick up, please contact our transportation manager (Monday-Friday) at 888-446-6394 ext 607 to discuss the alternatives.

Computers/Electronics: Under normal circumstances we do not offer home or office pick up of donations of computers and electronic items. These items are recycled and do not provide enough revenue to cover the cost of pick up. If you are a business with more than 20 systems to donate, please contact our transportation manager (Monday-Friay) at 888-446-6394 ext. 607 to discuss alternatives.

If you need a pick up, call our customer service line Monday through Saturday at 888-446-6394 OR 619-225-2200 and they can tell you right away how soon we can arrange it. NOTE: Do not call individual stores for pick up! They cannot assist you.

Your donation must be:
Pre-screened and scheduled by our Customer Service Department at 1-888-446-6394
Outside or at a ground level location
Clearly labeled as a donation for Goodwill.
Light enough to be lifted by two people.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR SCHEDULED HOME PICK UP DONORS:
Please be sure to let our customer service department know in advance if you are adding additional items to your donation. This allows us to allocate enough space in the truck to be able to take all of your items. If there is not room in the truck, we will be happy to schedule a second pick up at a later date for additional items.

State law requires that if your donation includes any computers, televisions, or other items with a CRT, someone must be at home (or office) at the time of pick up to complete all of the information required by law.

Items like built in appliances, refrigerators, stoves, spas, mattresses, and a variety of other items may not accepted as donations, due to restrictions in state and local laws or the cost to dispose of items we know we cannot sell or recycle. Please be sure to make the customer service representative aware of ALL of the categories of items included in your donation, so that you won’t be surprised if there is anything we cannot accept.

We are a job training organization for people with disabilities. We don't do any fundraising events, solicit money by mail or phone, and only have limited funds from other sources, usually tied to one individual program participant.

We collect, process and sell donated items in our retail stores-which generates over 96% of our operating revenue supporting over 500 employees in San Diego County. Our stores exist to provide a workplace for our participants to gain real work experience they can use to get a job in the community when they transition from our program. We are NOT a social service agency, and we do NOT give anything away to the needy. We train people so that they can become self-supporting and end dependence on government payments and become productive , fully integrated tax-paying members of our community.

If the item(s) you wish to donate do not fit into any of the categories listed under "what to donate", or if they require major repair, are torn, stained or broken, we suggest that you check with the city you reside in, or the county(in unincorporated areas) or see www.earth911.org for some suggestions on how and where to recycle or dispose of the item.

WHY GOODWILL?
It is easy to think of Goodwill in terms of things - household items to be passed along, bags of clothing, shoes, and books. For decades, Goodwill has depended on these tangible items as a means to employ, train and support thousands of workers with disabilities and other barriers to employment. We believe that work forms the cornerstone of a person's relationship with other people, and is critical in preventing and minimizing social problems.

These individuals ask us for a chance, not charity, and Goodwill is helping them acquire the confidence and skills they need to live and work independently in our community.

WHY DONATE TO GOODWILL?
We are a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization.
Donations are tax-deductible as a charitable contribution.
Your donation provides employment, education, training, and job placement services for people with disabilities
86 cents of every dollar we earn from the sale of your donations in our retail stores is used to support our free programs and services for people with disabilities, and anyone in our community who needs help finding a job.
Goodwill helps people become self-supporting, tax-paying members of society.
Revenue remains in San Diego County to benefit our community
We give people a hand up, NOT a hand out.
