Goodwill Industries of San Diego County is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of the Broadway Bookloft on the mezzanine level of their retail store at 16th and Broadway in San Diego at 9:00am on Friday, October 3, 2008.
The bookstore offers over 20,000 new or gently used books for sale, including a large children’s section, collectable books, out of print and rare books, and recent releases. The staff is very knowledgeable and the store offers free wi-fi access and a large flatscreen TV their wi-fi lounge and a separate children’s reading area in the back of the store. All of the books for sale have been donated to Goodwill by the community to support their job training programs for people with disabilities. Shoppers can sign up for the Goodwill Book Club that features special events and offers to members throughout the year via email or text.
This will be Goodwill’s second bookstore in San Diego County, the first opened in University City in September 2007.

CEO Mike Rowan of Goodwill Industries of San Diego County announced the opening of a new Goodwill facility with a wi-fi bookstore, donation center and secure document destruction drop off in the Eastlake area of Chula Vista near Southwestern College. The store and donation center opened its doors on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 9:00am. The store hours are 9:00 to 7:00 Monday through Saturday and 10:00-5:00 on Sundays.
“We’ve been trying to find the right place in Eastlake for quite a while, and we were finally successful. This community is booming and with all the new homes and businesses, we are delighted to move into the neighborhood. We know that our many fans, shoppers and donors in the region and many new customers will be as excited as we are to find a donation center nearby, and to be able to find lots of wonderful books and a new place to browse and shop!” Said Mike. “We are also thrilled that some of our South County employees, who have been traveling to Pt. Loma every day to work, will be able to work closer to home and their families.” added Rowan.

“We’ve given the interior a modern, happening ambiance offering a clean and friendly place to hang out and find unique, new or gently used books,” added Beth Forsberg, Goodwill’s Donations & Retail Operations Director.
Book lovers and donors will be welcomed seven days a week.
Donations of books, clothing and small household items will be accepted during business hours through the donation door at the back of the store. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have a large donation or furniture items, we suggest you take them to our regular retail store at 1177 Broadway in Chula Vista where we have more room in the back.
Goodwill encourages donors to bring their items only during posted hours to prevent vandalism and theft. “We are always appreciative, and do better with donations that are in usable condition. A good rule of thumb is if you’d pass it on to a family member or a friend, we’d love to get it as a donation. The one exception is for televisions and electronic items which we will accept whether they are working or not.
