PICK UP SERVICE

Consider whether one of your family or friends would find your donation useful if you passed it on to them. That's a good rule of thumb to use when you make a decision to contribute second-hand items to any organization.

During most of the year, we may offer pick up services for larger (quantity) donations that include furniture items in good to great condition with no missing pieces, tears or stains (excluding mattresses and items that are too heavy)- or for large loads pre-qualified by customer service. Lead time can range from 2-4 weeks depending on when you call and are based on your zip code and our fixed truck routes.

We encourage donors, if at all possible, to bring their donations to one of our  STORES or DONATION CENTERS conveniently located throughout metro San Diego County.

COMPUTERS/ELECTRONICS: Under normal circumstances we do not offer home or office pick up of donations of computers and electronic items, but we do accept them FREE (working or not) at convenient FACILITIES all year round. These items are recycled and do not provide enough revenue to cover the cost of sending a truck out to pick them up.

MATTRESSES/BOX SPRINGS: We do accept donated mattresses and box springs at our Otay Mesa Outlet at 6655 Camino Maquiladora, SD 92154.  The State of California prevents anyone from reselling used mattresses of any sort without an extensive, expensive sanitizing process, so we choose not to sell them, but will assist you in recycling them if you wish to drop them off at this facility.  Please call for current hours 619-428-7776.

With the cost of gas, labor, insurance, maintenance, and the resale value of goods we receive as donations, in many situations it is not economically feasible for us to offer free home pick up or to offer pick up in the more rural parts of San Diego County. In addition, there are areas within the City of San Diego that will not accommodate our trucks, and where there are no loading zones. We apologize for any inconvenience if you reside in these areas.

We depend on the income from the sale of donations to provide the revenue we need to operate our FREE EMPLOYMENT SERVICES. San Diego's Goodwill doesn't solicit the public for cash or hold fundraising events so it it critical for us to maximize the return on our resources.

Items like built in appliances, refrigerators, stoves, spas, and a variety of other items may not be accepted as donations, due to restrictions in state and local laws or the cost to dispose of items we know we cannot sell or recycle. OTHER RECYCLING RESOURCES.

Large, heavy items (pool tables, sofabeds, double recliners, large glass items, and metal furniture) may not be accepted because of safety and liability concerns (weight, breakage, damage). All items must be a safe weight for two people and a dolly to move/lift.

Please be sure to make the customer service representative aware of ALL of the categories of items included in your donation, so that you won't be surprised if there is something we cannot accept.
